3 ways to get back into blogging

In the beginning blogging was fun! You diligently worked on it every day. You had heaps of support. Quit your day job and thought blogging would be your new calling in life. Only to discover, your site traffic slowed down at almost the same rate as the creative juices. Now you are stuck. How can you get back into the swing of it when your site stats provide very little inspiration? Here are three tips to choose your next topic, and hopefully, the inspiration you need to get back on the keyboard!

1. Get Passionate

If you are bored writing it, chances are, your reader will be bored reading it!

It is so tempting to choose a topic that is very “on-trend”, one that will increase your traffic and/or make you some money. Avoid choosing a topic that you, yourself wouldn’t read about. Find something you are passionate about. If you are passionate about the topic, this will flow through in your writing and your audience will volunteer to come along for the ride.

2. Get Old-Skool

Write something down. With a pen. On paper. Writing with the good ol’ pen and paper engages your brain differently. A 2010 study from psychologist Virginia Berninger at the University of Wisconsin found that writing by hand, actually gets out ideas faster. And you can generate more

ideas this way compared to typing. Writing is slower and this is a good thing! It deliberately slows you down, something not to be sneezed at when brainstorming.

3. Get Outside

Turn off your computer and go outside. The benefits of going outside are immense. Not only do you cop a dose of vitamin D and possibly ward off rickets, you can also find your writing mojo again. Getting outside restores your mental energy, it gives you that break you need, and relaxes you in ways that science is only beginning to understand. Numerous studies

have found that by getting outside, you can improve memory, increase creativity, and provide stress relief.

With these three easy steps you are on your way to getting back on the blogging saddle.
